Mid-June Newsletter

It has been quite wet and rainy recently here in Eastern Idaho considering we are halfway through June now. I have never been more productive than the last few weeks have been. Over the last weekend alone I was digging through my composer wastebin and rediscovered over 60 pieces that have been lost to time. I spent all weekend diving into old files from years ago and polishing old projects that were mostly complete. On Saturday I added 12 new pieces and 50 old pieces to my catalog.

Below are 12 pieces that I spent some time editing and posting onto my YouTube Channel and Catalog. Consider commenting and letting me know your thoughts! I’m hoping to grow a community and viewership on YouTube.

career update

Also over this past weekend, a conductor from the University of Denver, Dr. Wesley Broadnax came to visit BYU-Idaho to run a conductor’s workshop. I was invited by one of the professors at BYU-Idaho, which is how I was able to attend. During this brief, 2 day workshop, I was able to make invaluable connections with the conductor and ask some important questions about career ventures in music composition and conducting my music on an orchestral stage. Not only did I make connections with the conductor, but I also made some new connections and networks with the local band directors of the Eastern Idaho School Districts. Perhaps someday in the future, I’ll have the opportunity to make some commissioned music for some youth ensembles.

I was able to get valuable contact information from each of these fine directors in the hopes of building my network and earning my first future commissions

Dr. Broadnax was teaching us a lesson on Conducting an ensemble, preparing scores, managing people, and understanding diversity to a fair and modest degree in an ensemble.

Three of these pieces are remixes that are to serve as intermittent works between scenes, but Lanterns is by far the most crucial music in the entire story as it helps create that hopeful atmosphere that I have been trying to discover for a long time, and now I’ve finally finished the piece and can continue to finalize the soundtrack! The only pieces I have yet to complete are:
– The Desert Tomb
– Village Calamity
– Theostru Calamity
– Ending Theme (Yet to discover this)
Various other intermittent pieces between scenes

across the dales Updates:

I am making great headway in finishing the soundtrack for my passion project. My most recent editions to my site:
– Lanterns
– Reminiscence
– Memoirs
– Ieldran
