May Newsletter

This past May has been productive and eventful! There was so much that I have been working on I just can’t wait to share it! This month I worked on 4 new pieces and uploaded them to my website and my YouTube Channel. Check them out!

Into the Storm

Into the Storm is one of the oldest works I have ever made; melodies dating back to early 2015 when I was learning how to use Musescore 3 back in the day. The piece was terrible and while I moved the file into Staffpad and added minor changes to the piece, it always sat as my oldest and most unrefined piece. I am happy with how it has evolved to better demonstrate my current skills as a composer

Heart & Soul

Heart & Soul is a piece I wrote as a first attempt at experimenting with uplifting and motivational orchestral music. I used a lot of uplifting motifs that repeat, and allow the piece to evolve and grow to a climax. This piece is fully performable and uses no synthesizers.

Woodkey

Woodkey is a piece I wrote for Solo Marimba. This piece is quite difficult as it’s written for 4 mallets and uses a lot of poly harmonies and changing rhythms. The piece expresses a soft and light-hearted feeling despite the difficulty of performance. If one were to play this, the difficulty of the piece would be drastically simplified if two players were to split the staves and mallets.

Veteran’s Memorial

Originally, I wrote a piece for 5 horns in F and Organ and was attempting to make a piece that would start pleasant and slowly become corrupted and distorted throughout the piece, I found that these melodies were not fitting well and my skills as an organ writer will need some work before I tackle that challenge again. In the meantime, I reworked that project quite easily to become a somber memorial with themes directed at helping us remember the veterans who helped keep us free. Pay close attention to the many themes sprinkled about the piece and make distinctions as to which motifs match which aspect of our military. I hope this piece makes you feel patriotic for the past Memorial Day and our coming Independence Day.

Each piece is a critical hole in my soundtrack I am hoping to fill soon so I can finally compile all the work I have done into my first concept video.

I am also in talks with David Weber, one of the earlier artists I recruited to make concept art and he has agreed to finish an old concept work and make it better fit the newest version of the story. If you are interested in David Weber’s Work, check him out below!

Across the Dales

I am continuing to make great strides in my epic Dales Project. This past 4 weeks I have been working diligently at re-editing my first script to make it as clean and fluid as possible. I have also been chipping away at new music for the soundtrack for Across the Dales. The pieces I am working on currently for the soundtrack are the following:

– Faegerdale: The Endless Green Valley
– Memoirs
– Desert Tomb
– Lanterns
